take a hike

Yesterday Astrid and Skagit and I took a little walk on a trail we hadn't been back to in a couple months. Last time we went it was mosquitoville! I vowed not to come back since the trail along the river (Kelly Island area) had been eroded away by the high water we had this spring and I was risking life and limb to get down the trail while it is next to the river...plus there were several places where water had run and tried to make new channels. Well the hike is totally different now and there are parts that you get to walk through a section of trees. There is a construction crew fixing the eroded parts, as well as building up a few spots. It is so nice. Skagit got to sniff some butts and play fetch with a brand new friend named Yukon on the rocky shore for a little while. A good time was had by all.

(Astrid is watching Skagit's antics closely. Do you like the "Maine" hat from my friend Suzanne? Thank you SO MUCH, Suzanne - she loves it!)

(I never ever want to forget just how cute this little hand is)

(A splash of color)

(There's no better way to get Astrid asleep than the rythym of hiking)
