my little shootingstars on the mountain - another sure sign of spring!

After this long winter....I wasn't sure I remembered what these beauties looked like! But, this morning, they were out in force!
This little flower (yellow fritillary - also known as yellow bells) would be a perfect umbrella to hide under if you were a tiny creature.
Looks like the weather is about to change back to cold this weekend - so I'm glad it was a beautiful morning on the mountain...

You are right - it WAS a little tough to get these photos - since Skagit kept eating the heads off the flowers before I could photograph them! She thought it was halarious - I DIDN'T!!

Elizabeth! I was reading the current publication of Organic Gardening and the little Shooting stars are in there!!! They say they have the fragrance of grape juice!! Is that true???? Thank-you for continuing to inspire me! Much Love from Maine, Cousin Sue
