Smith River Permit - a lottery ticket to nature....

I am so excited I can't wipe the smile off my face. I just found out this afternoon that I won a lottery! It is the only lottery ticket that I've ever really bought. Each year Jeff and I enter into a lottery to get a permit to float the Smith River! Nearly 5,000 people apply for the 821 permits available. The first time I ever entered in 2000 - I got one! Now - we get to go again!

In 2000 Genevieve and Frank graduated college and as a graduation gift to herself (or was it a grad gift from Mom and Dad...I can't remember) she came out to see me in Montana! Genevieve joined us on the river! It was a wonderful trip...

I look back on that trip and think that it was a lifetime ago. I am so happy that I got drawn this year. I hope that some of our family can come.... We'll have to see.

You dog - you should give it to someone who has never done that.
I was thinking of floating the Green from Green River lakes to the Colorado. Does anyone do that? Art

There was a group of us that were talking about going to do the Green last year.....it never happened but I think it was Labrinth Canyon. The trip was supposed to be a week. Check this out:

You have totally perked my interest about doing the length of the Green to where it dumps into the Colorado. It would be a long trip since the river is 730 miles long! WOW - that would be a fun trip to plan!

There is one river that I would like to find out more about that has always fascinated me - that is the YUKON River in Alaska. Now, THAT would be cool!
